A burst water main continues to cause chaos during the rush hour.

Dagger Lane, near Aldenham Country Park, remains closed following the leak on September 5.

It flooded the road, causing some residents to be evacuated while 400 animals to had to be moved to safety at the country park.

Affinity Water have had no option but to shut Dagger Lane, near the junction with the A41.

It's meant drivers have had to find alternative routes - Aldenham Road and Elstree Hill - which has caused gridlock in the centre of Elstree village.

County councillor Caroline Clapper has been seeking an update on the work.

Following enquiries, Cllr Clapper says during excavation work in Dagger Lane, a power cable was damaged.

UK Power Networks is currently repairing this cable.

Dagger Lane is currently scheduled to be shut until Friday.

Measures are reportedly being looked at to improve traffic flow in the area while Dagger Lane remains shut.
