A hospice is holding a brand-new charity walk event this weekend to celebrate the lives of loved ones who have received end-of-life care.
St Clare Hospice’s Walking in Memory is a 5K walk through the scenic fields and footpaths across Hastingwood, courtesy of Paris Hall Farm.
Participants will receive a cup of hot soup including a complimentary, hand-held windmill that can be personalised in memory of the person they are walking in honour of.
Emma Broadbent, events fundraiser at St Clare Hospice, said: “Walking in Memory is a really special way to celebrate the life of a loved one, in the company of others who understand.”
“We wanted to add a special touch to the event that would stay with people even after the walk finishes.
“The windmills will be placed in the Hospice grounds as part of a temporary display, and there will also be some available to purchase for people to take home.”
“It’s a really powerful way of supporting others in the community to live, and die, with peace and dignity.”
Participants are welcome to sign up at the Hospice on the day Sunday, September 15 anytime from 10am before setting off at 11am.
Registration for Walking in Memory is now open via stclarehospice.org.uk/walkinginmemory
