Roding Valley High School shares a touching tribute about Sophia Khan, who studied at the school 16, and Max Halcrow, 21, who left the school in 2014, following news of their death

She had a whole life ahead of her with aspirations to complete a legal secretarial course later this year.

“We are further saddened to learn that 21-year-old Max Halcrow has also lost his life in this tragic road accident. Max was a former Roding Valley fellow student who left the school in 2014.

“It is a terrible tragedy to have lost two such lovely young people from the school community. Our thoughts remain with their families at this most heart breaking and distressing time.”

Cllr Stephen Murray of Loughton Roding, who also taught Mr Halcrow during his studies at Roding Valley High School, shared this post on Facebook: “Absolutely devastating news. Thinking of everyone affected by this tragedy – you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

"I have always regarded teaching other people’s children to be an immense privilege and teaching Max for his GCSE Psychology at Roding Valley High School was especially so.

“A fine young man and a great student to teach. RIP Max.”
