Residents may have started to receive a letter from the district council soon that everyone must respond to.

The 2019 annual canvass of electors starts in Epping Forest District with copies being posted on Friday, July 26.

The forms will be addressed to “The Residents” and is essential to make sure everyone is registered to vote as this could cause financial setbacks.

This could impact on anything from your ability to taking part in Parliamentary and EU elections, getting a mortgage, a loan or even a mobile phone contract.

If there are no changes to your details, you must confirm this to Epping Forest District Council.

A statement issued by the council, said: “Posting out reminders cost the council around £20,000 last year, money which could have been spent on public services to our residents.

“Hand delivering forms to our office might save postage but means we still have to scan and process them.

“So please help us to save money and conduct this important process more effectively.”

“By law, each household MUST respond so if you do it now we won’t have to send you a reminder. Please help us keep costs down.”

Anyone who has access to the internet, landline or a mobile phone can also fill out the form online, calling or texting by the deadline Tuesday, August 20.

For those want to be even more tech-savvy, you can now finish your form by using the QR code printed on the front.

Just open the camera on your mobile phone and hover over the code for a couple of seconds – it will take you directly to the household response website.
