A 23-year-old who was caught trying to groom an underaged boy online has been sentenced.

Arzaham Shar, of Station Road in Harrow, was reported to police by paedophile hunter group Justice for the Innocent.

He was charged with attempting to court or incite a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity and for attempting to court or incite someone under 16 to engage in sexual activity.

He pleaded not guilty to the first charge but pleaded guilty to the second at Harrow Crown Court on Thursday (July 25).

Shar was caught after the paedophile hunter group posed as an underage boy.

He was sentenced with a community order for 12 months. He will also be placed on the sex offenders register for five years and given a sexual harm prevention order for five years.

Shar's sexual harm prevention order means he is not able to communicate online with under 16s unless for lawful purposes with parental consent. He is also not allowed to use an internet device that does not log his internet history - this includes smart televisions and consoles.
