A travel agency team has won £500 worth of marketing vouchers after posing in a Calender Girls themed photoshoot for a window display competition.

Waltham Abbey Travel on Sun Street was on of 20 independent travel stores across the country to receive the prize on behalf of Jet2Holdays.

The team on four posed behind the package holiday companies flag on Friday, June 28, minutes before closing drawing plenty of attention from passers-by.

Gay Borland, manager of Waltham Abbey Travel, said: “We only entered the day before the competition’s deadline because we had to wait for the two of the girls to come back from holiday.

“We have a big flag in the window so I just said come on lets go outside, so we bought some hats and sunglasses and we were just laughing.

“It was a really hot day, the owner of the wine bar next to us came to took the photos of us and the people in the pub opposite was watching us.

“We were going to stand in the window but because it was hot day the pictures were not coming out properly so we decided to stand outside the shop instead.

“It was just a bit of fun and I just thought if we just done a Calender Girls we would have a good chance of winning and we did.”

The travel booking business have put their winnings towards an advertisement map across Waltham Cross and Cheshunt, including a bus advertisement and leaflet drop.

“With Jet2holidays they only book through independent travel agencies and we are the only company in the area,” explained Ms Borland. “Me and my business partner, Teresa Marie, have been here for 29 years and there is tough competition with the internet and multiple agents and after all these years of trading we thought we would do something different.”
