A man has been arrested after a suspected overnight assault on a woman at a flat in Crayford.

Police were called at around 2am this morning following reports of a disturbance in Claston Close.

On arrival, officers found an injured woman who was then treated by paramedics before being rushed to hospital.

A Met spokeswoman said: "Police were called shortly before 2am on Friday, July 12 to reports of a disturbance at a residential address on Claston Close in Crayford.

"Officers attended and found a woman with head injuries.

"She was taken by the London Ambulance Service to a south London hospital where she remains in a stable condition; her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

"A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

"He was taken to a south London police station where he remains in custody.

"Enquiries continue."

Reports on social media have noted that parts of the apartment complexes in the street have been taped off by police with forensics crews spotted investigating the area.
