Detectives are appealing for information and witnesses after a teenager was fatally stabbed in Croydon last night.

Police were called at approximately 9:10pm on Thursday, July 11 to reports of a male stabbed on Brighton Road in Croydon.

Officers, the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended. Despite their efforts, a male, aged in his late teens, died at the scene shortly before 10pm.

His next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem examination will be held in due course. Formal identification awaits.

A second male, believed to be aged in his late teens, was found nearby suffering from stab injuries. He was taken to a south London hospital where he remains in a stable condition; his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A third male, also thought to be in his late teens, was found close to Purley Railway Station suffering from a slash wound.

He was taken to a south London hospital for treatment; his injuries are not life-threatening.

He has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Two other male teenagers were arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.

They have been taken to south London police stations where they remain in custody.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating in close partnership with police in Croydon.

A number of crime scenes are in place and enquiries continue.
