The O2 is celebrating it's seventh year of people climbing the impressive structure for charity.

Since opening in 2012, more than 500,000 people have walked across the roof of the O2.

Originally created as a monument to space and time, over 19,000 glasses of Champagne Lanson have been drunk at the summit since January 2018.

The Up at the O2 event launched in 2018, which saw over £8000 raised, The O2’s charity partners are once again taken on Up at The O2’s climb challenge.

On June 21, marking Up at The O2’s seventh birthday, participants representing MQ: Transforming Mental Health, Nordoff Robbins and Music Venues Trust took it in turns to climb the walkway as many times as possible within a two hour time period.

The challenge aims to raise money for The O2’s official chosen charities, with a team from AEG also taking part.

In total, the four teams combined managed to climb 10,320 metres vertically, with the top climbers matching the heights of the Empire State Building and Taiwan’s Taipei 101 Skyscraper.

The celebrations continue, as Up at The O2 has recently introduced several new offers.
