A three-storey flat block in Purley was significantly damaged by fire on Sunday afternoon.
Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to the block on Reedham Drive, which is currently under construction.
Part of the first floor and most of the second floor were damaged, as the brigade fought to bring the blaze under control from 4pm to 6.30pm.
Crews from Wallington, Croydon, Woodside, Norbury and Wimbledon fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
