A woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm after a pedestrian was hit by a car in Orpington.

Police were called to the high street at 1.30pm yesterday and found a woman suffering leg injuries.

"The driver of the car is believed to have fled the scene," a police spokesman said.

Later that day a woman, in her late 20s, was arrested on Hodson Crescent in Bromley on suspicion of GBH.

After the arrest, @MPSPettsWood tweeted: "Officers from Petts Wood, along with Orpington and Chelsfield arrested a female this afternoon for GBH with intent following an incident that occurred on Orpington High Street earlier in the day."

We understand she has been released on bail and police are awaiting for a condition update on the injured woman who remains in hospital.
