The second largest Pride celebration in the capital is returning to Croydon next month for the fourth year running.

Organisers say this year's Pridefest will be "bigger, better and more diverse than ever," showcasing a range of live music, entertainment, dance food and drink on Saturday July 13.

Starting with a parade from North End in the town centre to Wandle Park, the event will be headlined by MOBO award-winning rapper Lady Leshurr, Soju from cult reality TV show RuPaul's Drag Race, and Croydon's own singer songwriter David McAlmont.

Paula Goodwin, Chair of Croydon PrideFest, said: “Croydon PrideFest is truly inclusive, and that doesn't mean just inclusive of people like me, but everyone – we aim to reflect the fullness of the LGBT+ community.

"Croydon is the most culturally diverse borough in London and the people who run, and the people who attend Croydon PrideFest reflect that.

"As a transgender woman it is great that Croydon is embracing and celebrating all of the rainbow people who make up the LGBT+ community.”

Performing on the main stage at Wandle Park are Son of a Tutu, Danny Beard, Asifa Lahore, The London Mozart Players with Silvastone, Kim Mazelle, and Bugeye.

Brand new for this year will be the cabaret tent hosted by Batty Mama, with other performers including Miss Prince, Bellavie Lady Bee, LMT, DJ Ritu and more.

Batty Mama, among London’s most exciting performance and cabaret groups, are one of three new partners for Croydon Pride this year, alongside BlackoutUK and Urban World.

Croydon spoken word group Well Versed Ink will also be running spoken word workshops in the park during the afternoon.

The festival will be followed by an after-party at Dice bar, Croydon, starting at 10pm.

In the run up to next moth, the David Lean Cinema will host a mini film festival, screening two films celebrating LGBT+ culture on June 25 and July 9.
