Children living in and around Hampton Wick are enjoying a brand-new play area which has been given upgraded equipment as part of the council's plans to improve public spaces.

Kings Field Playground has been fitted with a brand-new 30 metre zip wire, 4 metre space net, and a new skateboard swing to replace some of the older wooden items.

Martin Elengorn, Chair of Richmond Council’s Environment, Sustainability, Culture and Sport Committee said: “We know how important it is for children in this borough to be able to enjoy our open green spaces and to get the opportunity to play – particularly during the long summer holidays.

“I hope families in Hampton Wick and beyond get good use of the upgraded play facilities now open at Kings Field Playground.”

The council and the park’s community Friends Group also decided that 16 new trees will also be planted in the park as part of the council’s ongoing investment to improve its parks and open spaces.

Mariusz Marczuk, Vice Chair, Friends Group King's Field said: “The new zip wire is already proving extremely popular as is the new climbing pyramid and the new swing. Everyone is delighted with the new trees that have been planted alongside the cafe and the path leading to skate park.

“The Group is pleased that Richmond Council were able to fund this much needed facelift for King's Field which is a much-cherished facility in the Hampton Wick community.

“There is the scope for further improvements in the Park and the Group hopes the Council will be able to find the resources to install more facilities in the near future.”
