The RSPCA are appealing for information after the mutilated body of a fox cub was found wearing a collar in South Norwood.
Thought to be around 12 weeks old, the fox was found in the morning of Tuesday June 4 on Ross Road by a concerned member of the public.
Inspector James Whipps attended, discovering the body with a missing tail, wounds to its right hand side and throat, and a green collar around it neck.
The animal had wounds to its right side and was missing its tail
Inspector Whipps said: “While at this stage we do not know the cause of the injuries found on the fox’s body I am treating this as a suspicious incident, especially because this is a wild animal found with a green collar around its neck.
"The fox is thought to be around 12 weeks old.
“While injuries can be caused by other animals or predation it is still very strange for this cub to be wearing a collar.
“I am now appealing for anyone with information regarding the circumstances surrounding this poor fox’s death to contact me on the inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018.”
