Thousands of people across Richmond are without water after a large pipe burst at Hampton waterworks.
Thames Water will be making bottled water available in affected areas "within the next few hours."
The disruption, which began at around 9am, is affecting customers across Richmond, Twickenham and Kingston.
Schools, such as Buckingham Primary, have been forced to close for the day as engineers get to work on fixing the issue.
A spokesperson for Thames Water said: “We’re sorry to anyone whose water supply has been affected by a burst on a large pipe at our water works in Hampton.
"A team of engineers is there investigating and we have more experts planning how to get water back on for our customers as soon as we possibly can.
"If we’re unable to do that within the next few hours we’ll make bottled water available across the affected areas and we encourage customers to keep an eye our social media feeds and website for the latest updates.”
Thames Water are unable to say how long it will take for regular supply to resume.
