A wildlife rescuer who randomly spotted a mother duck and her seven ducklings being escorted down Bromley High Street has praised those who helped lead them to safety.

Karin Gerwat, from West Wickham, was out with her daughter when she stumbled across the heartwarming scene.

"It was really cute," she told News Shopper. "I did a double take because it’s not the usual thing you see.

She added: "It had a nice community feel to it and what I loved in particular was that workmen stopped drilling once they saw them. They didn't want to scare the duck and her babies."

Karin helped a group who found the ducks at Kentish Way after they strolled through The Glades on Sunday, June 6.

She shared her videos of the adorable moment on Facebook and said it was an example of why she loved the people of Bromley.

"It was nice for people to help after the negative posts around ducks in Orpington lately," she said.

Karin was referring to a police investigation into wildfowl cruelty in the area in which some ducks have been killed.

The mother duck and her seven babies were all unharmed and Karin said they were safely led to a park by the Churchill Theatre.

She said lots of people were happily taking photos of the peculiar scene of the ducks marching down the high street.
