Nearly two weeks ago, a pedestrian was injured in a crash involving a van in Worcester Park.

Mark Webb suffered serious injuries, which will require six months to recover from.

For anyone this would be a devastating turn of events.

But Mark is self-employed and has a young family and these injuries will leave him unable to work for some time.

That's when his friend Stacey Stevens and her husband Lee decided to do something to help him and his family get through this tough time.

"We are raising money for his family so he can recover and get back on his feet and not worry about day to day bills," Stacey said.

"Mark has has been so grateful for everyone’s kind words.

"He is currently still in hospital and are waiting for results from scans and when he can come home.

"Mark suffered a broken leg, 3 fractures to his skull and a bleed on the brain."

And the community has got right behind the fundraiser as well.

Set up on Saturday, the GoFundMe page started with a goal of raising £3,500.

But within days, that goal was already reached.

To help raise even more money, a race night down at Worcester Park Athletic Club has been set up.

It is taking place on June 15 at 7pm. Tickets are £5 per adult and entry for children are free.

The driver of the van stopped at the scene in Central Road, near the junction with Green Lane, just before 4pm on May 25.

Police said there have been no arrests.

Any witnesses – or anyone with information or dash cam / CCTV footage - is asked to call the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 020 8543 5157 referencing CAD 5010/May25.
