A MAN armed with a hammer was held by worshippers outside the mosque in Hayes Road, Southall, at 4.33 this morning (Monday).
Police were called after the man, aged 38, tried to attack people.
He was arrested for attempted grievous bodily harm and is in custody. There are no reports of injuries.
The incident is not being treated as terror-related.
It is believed the man may have been involved in a dispute with people he believed to be attending the mosque.
