Police in Northfleet are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was seriously injured in crash in the High Street last night. 

The incident took place at around 11.30pm on Thursday, May 30, on the High Street at its junction with Vicarage Drive involving a grey Toyota Prius, a green Ford Fiesta and a cyclist.
 

A man was treated at the scene for serious injuries.


A 33-year-old man from Gravesend was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.

Officers closed off the road overnight due to the incident but was reopened shortly after 7am this morning. 

A spokesman for the South East Coast Ambulance service has said: "At 23.32 yesterday (Thursday) we responded with an ambulance and four cars to a collision between a car and cyclist in Vicarage Drive, Northfleet.

"The air ambulance also attended.

"A man was treated for serious injuries. Police are investigating the incident."

There has been no update on the cyclists current condition.

Kent Police officers closed off the road at shortly before midnight where the incident took place between The Hive and Hive Lane near the Kmita Motors MOT and servicing centre.

Kent Police RPU were on the scene earlier this morning with a collision investigation team.

They tweeted: "Serious collision just before midnight on High Street, Northfleet between vehicle and pedal cyclist.

"Officers are appealing for witnesses, especially those that may have dash cam footage.

"Road currently closed.

"Police reference MC/MW/63/19 01622 798535."

Officers from Kent Police are working to establish the circumstances of the collision and are urging anyone who saw the cars or the cyclist in the moments leading up to the collision, or who have dash cam footage from the area around the time, to contact them.
