A toddler who tragically passed away after choking on a cocktail sausage has now been immortalised in a touching tribute painted by a Swanley lorry company.

Last month, News Shopper spoke to Beth Ranger, 22 and from Dartford, who lost her daughter Mia-Rose last year after a party sausage had become lodged in her throat, prompting Ms Ranger to conduct CPR on the child's body on the kitchen floor.

"A lot of people come up to me in the street and ask, 'how did the hell did you manage to perform CPR on your own daughter in that moment?'

"To be honest, I think it was just motherly instinct, I knew I had to do something," she said.

Mia-Rose spent some time on life support before sadly passing away in July 2018.

Since hearing her harrowing tale, Swanley lorry company Mark Luck Ltd were inspired to name one of their new motors after Mia-Rose, inviting her family to witness the unveiling earlier this week.

"I was a bit shocked at first.

"But it’s lovely that they've honoured Mia’s name and to know she’ll be driving around Kent," said Ms Ranger.

Speaking on behalf of the company, senior manager Rachel Archbutt said: "Mark Luck names all of the lorries for good luck so it was an honour to name our artic lorry after Mia-Rose.

News Shopper:

"We were asked by Beth's grandad, Tony Ranger, if we could name a lorry after his granddaughter and we had recently purchased a lorry which was perfect for the title.

"We thought it was a privilege to be asked to do this, and hoped it would bring some comfort to the family seeing ‘Mia-Rose’ out on the road," she said.

Ms Archbutt also said that the company wishes to use Mia-Rose's story to spread awareness about infant choking hazards.
