PEOPLE on the regenerated Acton Gardens site have been promised prompt action over heating and hot water problems.

They live in leasehold homes developed by Countryside Properties, sold and managed by L&Q.

Lucie Gutfreund, one of the home owners’ representatives, told the Times on Monday: “Residents are suffering great neglect. Currently, they are without hot water since Friday.

“This is happening every weekend since Easter. During Easter, there was no water - period. Residents received a couple of bottled waters each.

“Hot water issues are not the only problem. There are other defects and ineffective repairs, while service charges soar, climbing to £270 a month now for a no-frills block.”

She said one family had a newborn baby while living with the constant failure of hot water or heating.

“Residents are feeling helpless and stressed,” she added.

A spokesperson for L&Q said: “We would like to apologise unreservedly for the issues with heating and hot water experienced by residents at Acton Gardens.

“We are working to resolve these while speeding up our response times for repairs more generally. “We will of course be compensating residents for the inconvenience that these problems have caused and will provide regular updates on our progress.

“Service charges at Acton Gardens differ depending on the property in question and we are unable to comment on individual cases.

“However, these are used to fund a range of services across the development and we are in regular contact with residents about these.”
