FANS of Country Music living in Ealing are enjoying quality performances on their doorstep.

Westfield House in St Mary’s Road, better known as the Conservative Club, opens its door once a month to non members for shows put on by Chris Smith who writes for one of the leading music magazines and presents a weekly music show on community radio near his Sussex home.

So far, Ealing fans have been able to enjoy visiting American artists Jeremy Pinnell and Pat Reedy, as well as British talent like Hannah Johnson, Ags Connolly and new Bluegrass band, The Lowly Strung.

“Westfield House is a small venue by comparison, meaning we have a limited budget, so it is a constant challenge to find artists we hope will go on to bigger things,” said Chris Smith.

“There is something quite satisfying in being able to say ‘I saw them before they were famous’ and if we can provide opportunities for our audiences to do that then we are getting it right.”

Next in these special Ealing evenings is on Thursday, June 13, when Ryan Farmer, another new name whose debut album has received much acclaim, brings his band to W5. Opening the show will be local duo Azalea’s Ashes.

On Thursday, July 4, to celebrate American Independence Day, there are two sets from East London band East Lonesome Drifters.
