Police have named a man who was murdered in Catford.

Officers were called on May 16 around 7am to Torridon Road.

The call was made after residents raised concerns about the occupant of a flat, who had not been seen for some time.

Officers attended, forced entry to the flat and found a man dead at the location.

Although officers await formal identification, they believe the deceased is 54-year-old Barrington Davis of Torridon Road.

His next of kin have been informed.

The death was originally treated as non-suspicious, however on removal to the mortuary some suspicious injuries were noted.

A special post-mortem took place at Greenwich Mortuary on May 19 and gave the cause of death as multiple stab-wounds.

A 39-year-old man was arrested on May 18 on suspicion of murder.

He has been bailed to return to a police station on a date in mid-June.

The investigation by the Homicide and Major Crime Command continues.
