A lorry driver who was charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving has appeared in court.

Krzysztof Zarebski, 34, of Bedworth, Warwickshire, is also charged with causing serious injury to a 10-year-old girl by dangerous driving on the M25.

Zarebski did not enter any pleas whilst standing alongside an interpreter at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Monday, May 20, and has been released on conditional bail.

Sevim Ustun 49, and Ayse Uston, 68, both from Luton, died after an articulated lorry collided into their Audi.

The incident occurred between junctions 26 and 27 of the motorway near Waltham Abbey at 11.20pm on March 19, 2018.

The 10-year-old girl was also taken to hospital with serious injuries after the lorry overturned and crashed down onto an embankment.

Essex Fire and Rescue Service crews from Waltham Abbey, Loughton, Epping and Brentwood stations attended to the incident.

The case has been sent to a plea and trial preparation hearing on Monday, June 17.
