Police have re-opened the QE2 bridge at the Dartford Crossing following a "police incident".

A spokesman for Essex Police has said: "We were called at 1.35pm today, Friday, May 17, with concerns for a man’s safety on the Queen Elizabeth II bridge, across the Dartford River.

"Officers attended and he was brought to safety.

"The bridge was closed and traffic diverted while we dealt with the incident."

According to Highway's England. drivers are to expect residual delays of at least one hour due to the bridge closure.

The Essex Police Roads Policing Unit tweeted earlier: "We are currently on scene with an incident on the QE2 bridge with a full closure of the M25 (A282).

"We are working with partners and will reopen as soon as possible but this will effect the Fri rush hour, please avoid if possible."
