A prominent private hospital in Dartford has announced that it will be closing it's doors for good this June due to financial woes.

BMI Fawkham Manor Hospital in Longfield released a statement on their Facebook page yesterday with the sudden announcement and said they will be contacting current patients in the next few days.

According to their online post, this "difficult decision" was made following a review of current and future patient numbers, along with the hospital financial situation, which led them to believe that it is "no longer commercially viable to run the hospital".

The post read: "While we can carry out some procedures, it’s important that we do not start treatment for people where we would not be able to finish it.

"In addition, it’s important that we work with the consultant and patient to find options suitable for that patient if their follow-up appointment falls after the closure date.£

Approximately 90 procedures are expected to be cancelled due to the closure with the hospital now scrambling to sort alternative arrangements for around 200 patients who have follow-up appointments booked for mid June.

However, they have confirmed that they intend to proceed with 240 planned procedures and follow-up appointments before shutting up shop on June 7.

The hospital has also thanked staff and patients for their consideration and kind comments during this time.
