The only strip club in Croydon has suddenly closed down after apparently hitting financial difficulties.

Hustler Club in the town centre describes itself as “probably the best strip club in London”.

On it’s website the club prides itself on being a female-run establishment.

But earlier this week a sign saying the club in Crown Hill has closed appeared at the front.

It reads: “Please note that WDV Talent trading as Larry Flynt’s Hustler Club UK has now ceased to trade.”

It adds that queries relating to the company’s affairs should be directed to David Rubin and Partners.

The chartered accountancy firm specialises in business turnaround and rescue as well as corporate and personal insolvency.

On the company’s website it says: “Where rescue is not possible, other alternatives, including a formal insolvency process, may be considered.”

Croydon Council has confirmed that the closure of the strip club is nothing to do with it’s licence. It was granted an updated one this year.

A council spokesman added: “We are aware of this company’s decision to close but this is a matter for the company/premises.”

Last summer the club faced criticism for bringing forward its opening time to 5pm from 10pm.

At the time general manager, Uthania Jackson, said: “My record is untarnished for 11 years and I have a good relationship with the police and the council.”

She also defended adverts for the club, which showed a woman’s eye peering through a keyhole, saying she designed them to ensure they do not offend passing children.

Back in 2015 the club hit national headlines after the Advertising Standards Agency banned one of its van adverts.

It featured a naked woman alongside the slogan “the best view in Croydon”.

Larry Flynt’s Hustler Club, which has previously been probed by the Advertising Standards Agency (ASA), plastered the image onto a van as a way of promoting itself.

Both Hustler Club and David Rubin and Partners have been contacted for comment.

We have also tried to contact Croydon Council’s cabinet member for economy and jobs, Manju Shahul-Hameed, and cabinet member for safer Croydon, Hamida Ali.
