Organisers of the third annual Epping Forest Baby Show described it as “the best one yet”.

On Saturday, May 11, several new and expectant parents received the best tips and advice from experts across the district held at Epping Epping Primary School on Coronation Hill.

Exclusive talks on maternity rights at work, childcare services, paediatric first aid and pregnancy exercises were showcased throughout the day.

“I really enjoyed the talks,” said new mum and first time attendee Joey, who’s hoping to move to Epping soon. “They were really useful. You could find out stuff that you wouldn’t be able to find out from the internet.”

The Epping Forest Baby Show, brought together by five, Epping mums, including women’s health and exercise expert, Karen Laing.

"We receive no local funding or support for this and any profits go back into publicising the show,” she said. “We do it because as parents ourselves, who are also juggling jobs around families, it’s useful to have all the information you need in one place and to be able to talk and ask questions.

“When we set up the show in 2015, we were confident that given the right setting, the best of local businesses and services would come forwards to be a part of it. And that’s exactly what happens every year.”

Local cafe owner, Julie, who attended the event for the first time, said: “There was a really nice atmosphere and it was great to meet lots of local mums and business owners.

“It felt like one big event rather than lots of different people at the event.”

Event organisers said they are looking into putting on more events in the future and keeping in touch with those who attended.

Epping Forest Baby Show hopes to start an online support group for expectant and new parents within the district.
