A person has died this morning after being hit by a train at Clapham Junction.

Officers from British Transport Police were called to the station at 9.58am today following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended however a person was sadly pronounced dead," a BTP spokeswoman said.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

A message posted on National Rail's website said that the incident is expected to cause delays by up to 45 minutes as well as cancellations.

"The emergency services were responding to an incident in the Clapham Junction area earlier today," it read.

"South Western Railway are now working hard to recover service at this station."

No services that run between Waterloo and Wimbledon will call at Vauxhall, Clapham Junction or Earlsfield as a result.

The disruption is expected to last until at least 4pm today.
