A young girl from West Wickham said winning Miss Natural Beauty UK was a "complete shock".
Yaneena Gerwat, 15, won the competition in Cumbryn, Wales at the weekend after originally being a pageant sceptic.
She said she thought contests would be "competitive and mean" but said it was "not the case at all".
"I would not have been as confident in myself without the other contestants," she said. "When they called my name out I was completely shocked.
"And then they were calling out the top three finalists for Miss Teen Inspiration I was shocked again when they called my name out and was placed second, I was so happy."
She added: "It feels crazy. I was not expecting it at all. I was surprised about getting into the finals, never mind winning one competition and coming second in the other."
Yaneena, who will continue doing more pageants this year, won the competition after being interviewed by seven judges and completing three rounds which included a dance routine.
