Travellers moved into a park over the bank holiday weekend – but were quickly moved on after they were told they could be arrested if they didn’t leave.
Several caravans moved into Brook Meadow, off Aycliffe Road, Borehamwood, on Friday night, despite their being a borough-wide ban on travellers in Hertsmere.
A council officer attended the park on Saturday morning along with police and the council confirmed the group left voluntarily by the afternoon.
Councillors Michelle Vince and Jean Heywood were also down at Brook Meadow on Saturday morning speaking to the group and working with the police.
In January, Hertsmere Borough Council were given powers to move on any travellers who camped on 108 sites across the borough, without having to go through the courts.
The injunction lasts for three years.
