Over 1,500 people took part in what may have been the longest Easter egg hunt trail in Essex over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The Epping Ongar Railway hid several eggs along their five-mile route for youngsters to discover, led by Bertie Bunny and his helpers.

The hunt was the length of the railway track from Ongar through to Coopersale, roughly 131,579 eggs long in total.

The Activity Train, where a magician, balloon modelling and craft workshops were onboard to entertain youngsters and adults throughout their visit.

Dean Walton, General Manager for the Epping Ongar Railway said: "The staff and volunteers worked hard to make our long Easter Egg Hunt the success it was.

“This year's innovative 'Activity Train' will be used for other events later in the year. Our next big event is when the Dinosaurs come to Ongar."
