A hairdresser held a charity Easter raffle in honour of her late sister where the winners were drawn by the Loughton Town Mayor, today

Lynn Thoirs, owner of Stylers on Valley Hill, Loughton, raised £1,175 for Breast Cancer Now by selling tickets for residents to win an array of prizes.

A Thai takeaway, spray tan, candles, wine and sweet hampers were just some of the items donated from other businesses along the high street for the cause.

The money raised will go towards supporting Ms Thoirs’ nephew, who will be running the London Marathon on behalf of the charity this Sunday, April 28.

Loughton Town Mayor, Cllr Stephen Murray, was given the honour of drawing the winners of the raffle at the hairdressing salon.

He said: “An absolutely super effort run by a small business for a great charity and lovely to see it so well supported by other local businesses and by customers and local residents purchasing tickets.

“Absolutely confirms my long held view that this part of Loughton (Loughton Roding) has a lovely community feel to it and feeling honoured to continue be one of its elected representatives”.
