A son is worried for the safety of his parents and residents on a Woolwich estate due to a lack of parking enforcement.

Jeff Jeffries, whose elderly parents live on the Shooters Hill Estate, believes that the issue is out of control and that the council needs to take more responsibility.

He said there are currently people on the estates who park on double yellow lines, but nothing seems to be being done to stop them.

Jeff told News Shopper: "It just worries me how anyone thinks the emergency services are supposed to access the building if needs be.

"Lives are being put unnecessarily at risk. You think people would think twice after what happened at Grenfell Tower."

"This has been going on for months. It concerns me that an estate officer must have seen this and simply ignored it or not realised how serious it is."

"Either way Greenwich Council are responsible for the safety of their tenants and allowing people to block access to emergency services is extremely worrying.

"An ambulance or fire engine would be severely impeded if required in the building."

He said that it is a public road owned by Greenwich and they should be paying more attention.

A Spokesman from Greenwich council said: “Parking on the Shooters Hill Estate is enforced by Wing Parking Limited. We are aware of these issues and have passed the details on to Wing so that they can ensure that enforcement officers visit the estate and issue penalty charge notices to the owners of any vehicles that are parked illegally.

"We would encourage any residents who encounter dangerous or illegal parking to report it so we can make sure that it is enforced.”

The road in question, Tellson Avenue, is situated right next to Shooters Hill Road, which is a notorious spot for flytipping and accidents, with the most recent being two policemen taken to hospital after their car overturned.

Another notable accident was when glamour model, Katie Price, crashed her Pink car into a tree.
