Police have arrested four individuals in connection with a knifepoint robbery at Bexley Food & Wine in which a shopkeeper was stabbed. 

According to a post on the Blendon and Penhill Police Facebook page, the attempted robbery took place at the shop in Blendon Road on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 16.

The shopkeeper was reportedly stabbed in the leg and was taken to hospital. 

Inestigating officers has since said that large quantity of CCTV footage has become available with some already seized and currently analysed. 

One witness told officers she spotted a group of youths running down Blendon Road towards Sidcup between 2:10pm and 2:35pm on the afternoon in question.

One man was seen wearing a black hoody with the hood up carrying a bottle of Jack Daniels as he was running.

A spokeswoman for the London Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 2:21pm today (April 16) in Blendon Road, Bexley to reports of an incident.

"We sent an ambulance crew to the scene and took a man to a major trauma centre."

According to police, his injuries are not thought to be life threatening. 

Officers from the Blendon and Penhill unit are to visit the neighbouring businesses today and speak to nearby residents who have volunteered CCTV footage to be reviewed as part of the ongoing enquiries.
