A man was taken to hospital after a noxious substance was thrown at him near Catford Bridge railway station yesterday afternoon.
Reports on social media suggested it was an "acid attack" which occurred on Adenmore Road.
Police were called to Station Approach in Catford at 1.45pm where the London Ambulance Service treated the victim.
A Met spokesman told News Shopper: "Officers attended and established that a noxious substance had been thrown at the man on Adenmore Road.
"His injuries are not life-threatening."

No arrests have been made and police say they are continuing to investigate what happened.
