I've lived quite a few lives in quite a few industries and never have I felt the power of women supporting each other until founding my own company in Wimbledon.

International women’s day provided a moment of gratitude. From networking to social media, Wimbledon women in business are a force to be reckoned with and this is due to the strong undercurrent of women supporting each other.

There was a moment last week in the heart of Wimbledon Village, in the Dog & Fox where 170 women and a handful of brave men got together to celebrate 10 years of Wimbledon's most well-loved women's magazine - Darling. It was Darling’s founder and Editor Karine Torr we were raising a glass to. Not only for her success, but everyone in the room knew she is the very fabric of Wimbledon's tight community. Spending 10 years attending countless events, from networking to charity fundraising, she has been taking photos with her pocket-sized camera; ensuring the many women and men are championed and featured in the social pages of her magazine.

The event began at 7pm and unlike any other party I have thrown, as we opened the large double doors there were a queue waiting to join us. So many strong and beautiful women flowed into the room and by 7.30pm it was so busy, the General Manager Ben North, agreed we needed to take over the whole pub.

We were joined by the women who run Merton Chamber, Love Wimbledon, Metro Bank, new and established business owners, the current Mayor of Merton Mary Curtin and even the newly announced Mayor councillor Janice Howard. The photographer, Martijn Prins was rushed off his feet capturing all the smiles and glamour.

The leafy green selfie board, designed by Danielle Sweeney, mimicked the current Darling Magazine cover, and it was passed around for selfies as guest posed as the next cover girl. The Dog & Fox created a bespoke Disaronno-based Darling cocktail welcome drink, whilst Martin Miller's Gin kept everyone topped up with their own fruit cocktail. Alex Gear had made some healthy canapés, which was just as well, as Zayas Bakes had brought the most incredible white chocolate and raspberry 10th birthday cake which the whole room enjoyed.

At 8pm I perched on the rail in the middle of the room and looked behind me to see an eclectic mix of women I am lucky enough to know and work with over the last few years. The guitarist in the corner was singing Wonderwall by Oasis, but nothing had prepared him to be drowned out by so many women genuinely delighted to catch up with each other just for the pure fun of it.

Admittedly, it took me a few days to recover from such an overwhelmingly successful event, but with enough leftover cake to fix me for breakfast, lunch and after dinner, I was happy enough.

Luckily, I switched off at the weekend before this year’s 'life moment'. I was officially invited by Buckingham Palace to meet HRH Prince Charles as he hosted an event titled "Celebrating Cyprus”.

As my taxi reached near the gates, the driver shared my excitement. Police surrounded the car and the boot and bonnet was opened as I was asked to show my personal invitation and photo ID.

It takes a lot to stir me, so a little shaken and stirred, the car soon went through the cast iron gates and pulled up outside the red carpet entrance with armed police either side.

Stepping onto the red carpet, I knew there was little chance of a selfie without being shot, so I handed over my phone and held my breath as I glided up the thick carpets curved stairwell with my hand stroking the golden bannister. I felt as though I was being watched by the magnificent Rembrants, Reni, Ramano's and Rubens so I paused to ensure I stared back and took in all their glory.

It was my Cypriot roots I had to thank for bringing me here. With my family living peacefully in the mountains of Cyprus, I visit them regularly and love nothing more than capturing the islands beauty during my trips. It was the high level of engagement I received from my authentic content of Cyprus on my social media channels that put me on the guest list with the other 149 high-profile and successful UK Cypriots who have excelled in their industries. I was delighted to have a photo with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades and literally can't wait to show my Auntie Elie on her 80th birthday in Cyprus during the Easter break.

It was soon my turn to have the honour of meeting HRH Prince Charles who understood the future of digital media as he joked with a sparkle in his eye with the other media experts in my group, that it is bloggers like me who are disrupting traditional forms of journalism.

As he took to the stage, the Prince had the crowd standing proud as he praised the contribution of the Cypriots of diaspora in the UK who have exemplified in various fields with hard work and determination. He paid special tribute to President Anastasiades leadership on many of the global challenges that unfold and expressed respect and admiration for him.

HRH Prince Charles showed his vibrant sense of humour when joked about when the Cypriots first landed in the UK “they headed straight to Margate, as it was as close to Ayia Napa as they could get!” I probably laughed louder than one should in Buckingham Palace, but it did really make me giggle. Mainly because ironically, Margate was my family camping destination every sunny weekend as a child.

With such an incredible week behind me, I know there is little time to take it in before the next explosion of unexpected events. However, what I do know is that my diary remains packed with meetings with brilliant women who are keen to start, develop or grow their business in our digital world. The sky really is the limit for determined women in Wimbledon and when brave enough to rip up an outdated rule book, we can all enjoy International Women’s Day all year round.

Believe in your own strength and see how far you can fly.
