Seven arrests have been made in connection to a fatal shooting near a tube station.

On May 1 last year, Leon Maxwell, from Watford, was found with gunshot wounds in Cumberland Road, near Queensbury tube station, north London.

Armed police and paramedics were called just after 9pm but the 38-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene at 9.58pm that evening.

Yesterday (Wednesday), police carried out a series of raids in north west London.

  • On Tuesday, an 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder. He has been released on bail until mid-April.

During warrants on Wednesday, police made six arrests.

  • A 19-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.
  • A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.
  • A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and possession with intent to supply cannabis, a class B drug.
  • A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and possession with intent to supply cannabis, a class B drug.
  • A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. He was also wanted for being concerned in the supply of cannabis.
  • A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis, a class B drug.

The six people arrested on Wednesday were taken to north London police stations where they remain in custody at this time.

The murder investigation is being led by Detective Chief Inspector Katherine Goodwin of the Homicide and Major Crime Command.
