A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a French film producer whose body was found in a shallow grave.

Kirill Belorusov, 32, was arrested in Estonia on March 13 and extradited back to the UK.

He was charged yesterday at a west London police station with the murder of 34-year-old Laureline Garcia-Bertaux in Kew.

The French film producer was found buried in her own back garden on March 5.

Unshaven Belorusov, who is believed to have been living in London but is an Estonian national, appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court wearing a long sleeved navy t-shirt.

According to the indictment he is charged with murdering Ms Garcia-Bertaux at "4 Darrell" between March 2 and March 6 this year.

It reads: "Between 2 March and 6 March this year at number 4 Darrel in Kew that you murdered Laureline Garcia-Bertaux contrary to common law."

Belorusov spoke only to confirm his name and nationality.

He told the court: "I was born in Russia but I have an Estonian passport."

When asked if he had an address he said: "Not at the moment."

His case was sent to Old Bailey and he was remanded into custody until his next appearance on March 25.

Chair of the bench Jagpreet Tucker said: "You will be remanded into custody. Your next appearance is going to be to the Old Bailey the central criminal court on the 25 March 2019."
