A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the discovery of a 52-year-old woman’s body in a Wandsworth flat, following reports of concern for her wellbeing.

Officers discovered the body of Antoinette Donnegan after being called to a flat in Este Road at 6.40pm last Thursday (March 7).

It was confirmed by Met Police the cause of death remains unknown, after a post-mortem examination held the following Saturday was inconclusive.

But after an investigation was opened, officers quickly deemed the case to be suspicious and a murder probe was launched.

A 41-year-old man was arrested today (March 13) on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

Detective Chief Inspector John Massey, who is leading the investigation, said: “Although a precise cause of death remains to be established, I am satisfied that the circumstances surrounding Miss Donnegan’s death are suspicious.

“We are keen to speak with anyone who may have been in contact with Antoinette in mid to late January this year or visited her at her home address during this time.”

Her next of kin have been informed and a second post-mortem examination is to be scheduled.

A post-mortem examination held on Saturday, 10 March was inconclusive and a second examination will be scheduled.
