Developers are trying again to bulldoze buildings in Bromley to build a new block of flats.

Turnbull Land has proposed 19 new homes in London Lane a year after the council blocked an application for the site.

A previous scheme for two blocks featuring 17 flats was thrown out because the developers had not included an acceptable level of affordable housing, following other concerns over the impact a new block would have on neighbours.

The developers are appealing the council’s decision, and in the meantime have submitted a revised scheme as they look to secure permission.

In a planning statement, the developers said: “The proposal seeks to make better use of the land and to provide additional units to the borough within this established residential area.

“The proposed scheme has been arranged and designed to allow for a better use of this double plot in order to provide additional dwellings and enhance the street scene.”

The developers have said that they can’t provide affordable housing in the scheme, saying it would make it “unviable”.

One neighbour has objected to the plans, writing to the council: “This development was previously rejected and I would like to reconfirm my objections.

“The road is already congested with residents and people parking cars to walk to Sundridge Park station.

“The addition of so many flats even though there is a element of parking provided is still likely to overload the road.”

Spread over four storeys, the developers have proposed seven one-bedroom and 12 two-bedroom flats with 19 parking spaces.

Experts at the council are currently considering the plans with no decision made yet.
