Developers are eyeing up a site near a controversial bar in Erith High Street for a new block of flats.

Dhadda Estates has submitted plans to build a four and five-storey block of flats with a new shop on the ground floor at land near the White Hart in Erith.

The developer says there is scope for five new flats, three of which would be three-bed and seven two-bedroom.

The site is in a “riverside opportunity area” close to the White Hart pub, which was refused permission last year to open until 5am.

The bar and restaurant wanted to be open 18 hours a day under arrangements councillors dubbed “mad”.

Under a new scheme submitted to the council, developers propose a new block of flats at land next door to the restaurant.

According to planing statements: “The proposal complements scale, form, layout and materials of the existing adjacent and neighbouring buildings.

“The proposal does not impact on the neighbouring properties.”

The scheme is currently with planners at the council with no decision yet made.

No affordable housing has been included in the plans, with the developer claiming it is not viable to provide any.

Erith has been earmarked by the council for major growth in coming years, with an ambitious strategy in place for 31,000 homes – primarily in the north of the in the borough – by 2050.
