Plans to construct a huge seven building development reaching 23-storeys high at the site of the former Royal Mail delivery office were approved nearly seven years ago.

But before any works get underway, the now empty site will play host to private parties and London Fashion Week events.

Plans were approved earlier this month to allow the temporary use of the former Royal Mail delivery office - for a period of up two years - as an event space.

And there are already weeks-long bookings in place.

In one of the planning documents attached to the submission, it showed that the "immediate pipeline" of events included a two-week-long high end jewellery event in May, as well as a hair and beauty brand product launch which hopes to conclude at 1.30am.

And once the two years is up? Well the case officer who approved the development said that "it is likely that the building will be demolished as the site is redeveloped."

"It is considered that subject to appropriate safeguarding conditions, the proposed temporary use of the site would not have an unacceptable impact in local residents’ amenity in terms of noise and disturbance, would not have a prejudicial impact on the local road network and would enhance the arts and cultural offer within the local area," the case officer wrote.

"The temporary nature of the consent would not establish the long-term use of this site nor preclude the future development of the site as part of the consented masterplan for the wider site."
