The Croydon Cat Killer may have struck in Bexleyheath, a leading animal charity has said.

After a three-year investigation, the Met Police concluded last year that foxes were most likely responsible for the deaths of around 500 pets, not the UK Animal Killer as the person is also known as.

However, South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty (SNARL) is continuing its own investigation and its members are convinced a human is killing the animals.

On Wednesday (February 20) the group attended a suspected incident involving a fox and a cat.

Their findings were very troubling.

"The cat, which was not microchipped, had injuries consistent with those inflicted by the UK Animal Killer, we are awaiting vet examination," a post on SNARL's Facebook page read.

"The fox was also deceased.

"In the meantime, leafleting has been carried out in the area to capture any relevant cctv and to try and identify the cat."

The cat is a large female, brown with white and light brown areas.
