Football legend David Beckham could be hauled to court over allegations that he was seen using his phone while driving.
The police were informed of the allegation after a member of the public contacted them over the incident on November 21 in west London.
Beckham, 43, received a justice procedure notice in the post, but the former Real Madrid star has not yet been charged.
A hearing to discuss the case will take place on March 19 at Bromley Magistrates’ Court.
It is understood Beckham will not have to attend court that day.
A spokesman for the Met Police said: "An allegation was made by a member of the public to the Met that on 21 November 2018 they saw a 43-year-old man on his mobile phone while driving his car in the area of Great Portland Street."
"The 43-year-old man has been sent a notice of intended prosecution."
Beckham was accused of speeding in west London last year after allegedly driving over the 40MPH limit, but his charge was eventually dismissed.
