A supermarket giant could cut thousands of jobs according to an internal company email seen by the BBC.

Tesco’s chief operating office is reported to have said the UK grocer is “finalising” plans which could see 15,000 roles cut - and some fresh food counters and bakeries gone also.

According to the BBC, the supermarket boss said “any changes” would be hard for those affected and that more details would follow.

Tesco has cut more than 10,000 jobs since the current chief executive, Dave Lewis, took over in 2014.

The company is trying to save £1.5 billion.
