One of Lewisham's oldest pubs has been given a very modern makeover and will be re-opening in just a few weeks' time.

Originally The Black Horse and Harrow, the pub is located in the middle of Catford and has now been turned into a multi-purpose space which will hold all sorts of events.

The pub has be re-named Ninth Life and will be opening on February 7.

The new space will provide a multi-level pub, a food market and a nine-room immersive theatre experience and full festival vibes.

What was once a down-in-the-dumps beer den has been transformed into a space that everyone can enjoy.

Pub-goers can expect drinks and food, live art projects and live music, local film screenings, games nights and drag-queen bingo as well as daytime showcases from local youth groups, graffiti festivals, spoken word and art exhibitions.

It will be hosting a free party on its opening weekend to celebrate the exciting new revamp.

Events will include DJ Jimi Needles, Chris Hyde Harrison Trio, Jazz FM’s Anne Frankenstein, Scott Walker live drawing wall, more live wall art from Nathan Bowen and performer Bruce Airhead getting stuck in a balloon.

The Ninth Life music programme will always have a festival feel and you should expect an eclectic mix including new psych, northern funk, new skool funk breaks, jazzy beats, lounge core, 60s exotica, classic funk and 60s soul, Latin boogaloo, new wave and wonky grooves.

Opening weekend will run from February 7 to 10, so pop down when you get the chance.
