A charity carol service outside a supermarket raised more than a hundred pounds for the homeless over the winter season.

A Christian organisation called Churches Together in Hendon and Colindale was outside Sainsbury’s the Hyde on December 18.

They treated shoppers with a number of Christmas songs and managed to raise £147.01 for homeless charity, Crisis.

The organisations say the money will go to providing sleeping bags for rough sleepers and are already planning their future service at St Mary’s Church in Hendon at 6.30pm on January 27.

All are welcome to attend the organisation’s next service.

Anthony Agbobu is a doctor at Dorset County Hospital and also a chairman for the organisation, he said: “It was raining and cold, but the turnout was still very good and we ultimately raised £147 for the charity.

“I would like to thank everyone for their deep commitment and to making a difference and an impact on the community and the homeless in this difficult climate.

“Now we have more homeless people than ever and we’re really thankful for people commitment to coming out.”
