A fly-tip dumped on the side of a street has been causing a stir online.
The tip in Goodwyn Avenue, Mill Hill, was not reported to the council but its picture has already been making the rounds on Twitter.
Mill Hill Broadway, a blog for the area, said it was shocked that the police did not act.
Totally shocked that the police failed to act when given the photo and information by @Barneteye Hopefully they will put cctv on this fly tip which has been used for years and prosecute the culprits. Agree with @insidemillhill that action is needed urgently. 😢

The police in Barnet has responded.
We have to prioritise what we deal with, lately this is ranging from serious violence, domestic abuse, fatal incidents and criminals going around robbing vulnerable people and burgling houses. Local authority will normally investigate/prosecute fly tipping 1/2

That is not to say it isn’t a priority, fly tipping is an expensive environmental problem, but the police have to prioritise incidents that cause the most threat and harm to people. I have tagged the local policing team into this so they are aware and can monitor 2/2

Barnet Council has said it was just made aware of the rubbish on the street and said it would get it cleared tomorrow.
A Barnet spokesperson said: “We have received no formal reports of the flytipping in Goodwyn Avenue, and would encourage all residents to report flytipping where they find it at barnet.gov.uk/flytipping.
“We take flytipping extremely seriously and will take enforcement action wherever we can find evidence of the people behind it."
Recently, a firm was ordered to pay £10,000 after a successful prosecution by the council.
