A West Wickham mum is adamant her family cat was knifed to death by a deranged killer.

Catherine Want, 54, said her sibling cats, who she rescued in Corfu three years ago, both went missing on Sunday (December 30).

Ziggy, three, arrived back home last night (January 1) but Jessie, also three, was not so lucky.

The cat was found "gutted" on nearby Manor Park Road, and South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty (SNARL) is assisting the investigation after being called by police.

Catherine told News Shopper: "This is not the best time. All I know is she was gutted and was left on someone’s doorstep.

"There was no blood so she must have been killed elsewhere. It was definitely done by a knife and was not done by a fox."

The heartbroken mum believes the so-called Croydon cat killer is responsible.

She added: "I don’t think that you realise how real and horrendous this is until it happens to you.

"Someone is going around mutilating helpless animals. It seems to have escalated again, there are so many missing cats."

Boudicca Rising, of SNARL, told News Shopper: "The best way of describing her injuries is to say she was eviscerated.

"The vet has confirmed this one is linked."

Remembering Jessie, Catherine said: "She was affectionate, adorable, and all the neighbours loved her.

"She was such a king little cat, especially considering she didn’t have a home until we found her. We thought were doing something good bringing her here."

The Met Police issued a statement in September confirming they were ending its investigation into hundreds of animal deaths – and said foxes were responsible for the mutilations.

If you find any mutilated animals or body parts, you can contact SNARL on 07961 030064 or 07957 830490.
